While those of us in the States must make due with either a modest revamp or an aero-enhanced version of the 350Z, the Japanese will be able to get their hands on a what is arguably the most desirable Z-car yet – courtesy of NISMO.The Fairlady Z Type 380RS-Competition gets its new numerical nomenclature from increasing the displacement of the stock 3.5-liter V6 to 3.8-liters, boosting power to 350 HP and 293 lb.-ft. of torque. The increased oomph will likely be sent through a six-speed manual gearbox, with what we'd assume is a beefed up clutch to handle the extra horses.

On the sticky side of things, the 380RS gets upgraded shocks, springs and sway bars, along with Bridgestone Potenza RE01R tires, sized 245/40R18 up front and 275/35R19 in the back. In order to halt forward progress NISMO has fitted Brembo discs at all four corners, with high-friction pads.
Not to leave the package incomplete, the exterior gets a series of aerodynamic mods, and on the inside, Alcantara- and leather-trimmed seats encompass the driver, while the shift knob, hand brake lever and steering wheel have all been covered in perforated leather. Drivers are also reminded of the special nature of the 380RS when they peer beyond the wheel and are greeted with a bespoke gauge cluster.
Only 300 of the 3.8-liter Zs will be produced, with a price tag around $44,000. It's a fitting sendoff for a vehicle that is due to be upgraded in the next few years. Too bad it's not coming this way anytime soon.

Too bad the v2 nismo kit looks so bad... and this is coming from a guy who Nismo kitted his 350z recently!
Would love that engine though.

Im glad they are finaly beefing up this Z car, alot of poeple where saying it was not as fast as the 300Z...I think its time to move on though make a new model.

Wow, that's pretty good. It matches the torque output of the M3 with less displacement and less cylinders.

The racing version of the 380RS (used for Super Taikyu I think) gets 400hp out of the exact same engine as well, just with a different computer and of course race fuel.
I think it looks great, the rear is a little strange but this is a NISMO car, it isn't designed to look good just to go fast.

I guarantee this will be the GT-R engine in turbocharged form

They knock out the engine another .3 liters...and all they get out of it is 350 hp?
