Autoblog Night Watch: Europe's Time Attack in full effect

Time Attack is about the purest a form of motorsport you can get. Take a car, strip it of everything unnecessary, spot weld anything you lay eyes on, throw in the required safety equipment and data systems, then couple the biggest, baddest engine to a close ratio gearbox (sequential preferred), forget the term "quality ride," and then get the meanest driver you can find. One lap, one time, one winner. Exponentially awesome.
So when Clash Productions threw a video collage of the second round of the European Time Attack series, held at Silverstone, we thought it was worthy of a few minutes of our time – and yours. The audio is acting a little wonky (static and such), but all is forgiven when you get to bask in the aural glory of an 800 HP Evo, a 380 HP Elise and the raucous soundtrack of a 650 HP Subie. The video is after the jump, and Clash's body of work is open for your perusal at StreetFire.

Great field of autos. Good editing. Music suited the pace. Nice post. The first minute or two I felt like I was watching an intro to a new installment of Gran Turismo.

Some nice shots, good editing. The music got old and annoying after a while. They should've paid close attention to music and sound effects volume balance. It is very annoying to have music and engine sounds at the same level. The true stars were, of course, the cars.

The music ruined for me.
I'm not watching the video to hear the guy's music sellection: I'm watching the video for the cars and it's sounds.
Couldn't bare it more than a minute.

Agree with #3. Couldn't watch more than a minute or so - why do so many people posting videos do exactly the same thing, drown out the car sounds with music? Not everyone has the same taste as you!

I don't get that either, maybe some music at the beginning but I just like hearing these beasts. The exhaust, engine, drivetrain, turbos, supercharger, mashing of the gears, tire squeal etc etc

I watched about 30 sec.. couldn't stand any more...music was distorted, too loud, full of static....totally distracting from ....what was this about anyway????
Bottom line... why bother if you can't edit and add muic to a vid correctly? I didn't want to watch a music video...rather a track event with cars and car's sound. Meh!

Fortunately for me, Chemical Brothers' "Acid Test" with Richard Aschroft actually makes it even better. It's a song I'd hot-lap to...one of the rare occasions where music in a vid actually agrees with me.
Now I want a downloadable version (with some decent audio). I don't think it was the music causing the distortion...I think something is just wrong with the levels he mixed everything at (or the original encoder). The distortion increases with the louder moments (engine or music).
